Hi... I'm Martin...

Photography has been a passion forever, its great getting your pictures developed and seeing something captured exactly as you wanted it, its even greater when you see something you captured hanging on someone else's wall.

So what about me.. I've lived in the North East most of my life with a bit of time out to working in the Dordogne and other areas across the South of France having what can only be described as a whale of a time. I take most things in good humour and always have that annoying optimism and see the good bits in the worst areas that people don't seem to like. I'm a bit of a joker and rarely have a serious head on and try to bring this quirkyness to my photography. The same as a painters emotion flows through the brush, my personality comes through in the pictures that I take. 

I'm an affiliate member of the British Institute of Professional Photographers (BIPP) while I'm working towards full recognition (they give you letters after your name and everything then).

I don't know why I'm not called Martin Lynn Photography following the same profile as other photographers, maybe I got sick of people ringing up asking to speak to Lynn Martins. The name Carve came from my other passion, surfing.  I was injured and hadn't surfed for months and myself and a former colleague were talking utter rubbish in the office and somehow I decided if I had a photography business that's what it would be called. Ironically, I don't often combine surfing and photography, if I'm on the beach taking pictures of surfing, it means that I'm stood in front of good waves that I'm falling off, erm...I mean riding them.

Anyway...enough rambling. I have a very reportage or 'In the moment' style to my photography, you get a true sense of a person when they aren't fronting up to the camera.

So that's me, well a small part of me, and how I came to be 'Carve Photography'..... see you soon!
